PAUL WOZNEY « » : I rise today in recognition of the Haire family, Sackville residents who suffered a tremendous loss, who have dedicated themselves to make sure others need not feel their pain.
In August of 2023, Michele and Brian lost their son, Cam, to suicide. Cam was a skilled pharmacy technician working for the Nova Scotia Health Authority, and someone who felt deeply for struggling people in his community. This year the Haire family partnered with Esinam Counselling on a fundraiser in Cam’s honour.
Together We Rise was an evening featuring food, music, and a silent auction. I was honoured to sit in on the brave conversation about how together we can end the stigma around discussing mental health, especially for men. Over $6,000 was raised for Freedom Kitchen and Beacon House to help Sackville stay fed, clothed and housed.
I ask all in attendance to please join me in recognizing the Haire family for their selfless efforts on behalf of their community, and for honouring Cam’s legacy of generosity so faithfully.
