PAUL WOZNEY « » : October 2025 was an historic moment for Nova Scotia’s labour movement. At the 53rd Convention of the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour, apply titled A New Way Forward, Melissa Marsman was acclaimed as President of the Federation, the first woman and the first person of colour to hold the role.
Melissa has been a noteworthy advocate in the world of labour for nearly three decades and brings to the position a deep understanding of workplace equity, inclusion, and fairness. She’s served on human rights committees with the NSGEU, her home union, and the Federation.
I ask the Assembly to join me in congratulating Melissa Marsman, not only for making history but for the years of selfless dedication she has given to Nova Scotian workers, unionized and ununionized. I look forward to collaborating with her on the work of making Nova Scotia a better place to work and live for all.
