PAUL WOZNEY « » : Today across our province, students in public schools have organized in protest to make clear to the Premier and this government that the proposed budget will create immediate and lasting harms for them, their learning, their families and friends, and the communities they call home.
Students are citizens and they have rights and voices. Youth aren’t just the future; they are an integral part of our present. They are leaders in community. They are workers and entrepreneurs contributing to the economy and provincial prosperity. They are champions for justice, equity, climate action, and a better world. There is no community in our province that isn’t anchored by the lives and impacts of youth. Their voices deserve to be heard and given serious consideration by everyone in this House.
Thousands of young people are standing up in every region of this province to fight for a budget that protects and supports what matters to them. I hope every MLA takes the time to listen earnestly to these voices in deciding whether or not this budget is right for Nova Scotia.
